Weekly Update 05/04/21

Hi all

What a wonderful reflection and celebration we had of Jesus death and resurrection over our two Easter services. A huge thank you to everyone who was involved. It is wonderful to remember and celebrate at Easter, a season where we reflect again on the foundations of our faith. Praying that each of us has a fresh encounter with our first love and are inspired again by the beauty and power of our salvation through Jesus Christ.

Doors & Windows

A huge thank you to everyone who has given into our building fund. For those who were in the building on Sunday you will have noticed our new windows and doors are now in and completed. Easter Celebration

I want to close this week by imploring us to celebrate. Sometimes as Christians we find service easier than celebration. We can find sacrifice more holy than Joy. Easter is a celebration, a death to life moment for each of us. A moment to reflect on our salvation and remember we once were dead but now we are alive. Its the greatest moment in the History of creation, personally received by each of us to become the greatest moment of our lives. Lets take some time in the Easter season for thanksgiving and celebration. Church its party time!  We are toasting the greatest sacrifice ever made and the most powerful awe inspiring release of new life in all of eternity. Let us party with inexpressible joy!

1 Peter 1:8

and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,

Easter – New Life

I’m sure like me you are looking forward to Easter, not only is it the centrepiece of our faith it is the single most transformational event in the whole of History. The centrepiece of life as Jesus sacrifices His life that we might live. The point in  the incarnation of God where Jesus defeats death & Sin, satisfies justice and pours out grace. The point where human relationship with God is restored and a whole new way of life is opened up, as the people of God are now indwelled by The Holy Spirit.  Born again believers can now be born of the spirit and carry the presence of God. A whole new way of life is possible through the death and resurrection of Jesus. This new life is abundant and eternal, pain is seasonal, death may come but we will never again fear death as the end. Rather we will see death as the resurrection to our life eternal, living with God forever. Easter is new life and the season we are in reflects that. I love that Easter for us in the UK is spring time and as the natural world wakes up around us, as the blossom appears on the trees, as the daffodils and tulips on the ground bloom into life, it acts as a physical reminder of a spiritual reality, we worship the God who is the resurrection and the life. Easter is new life, celebrate it, enjoy it and allow the first blooms of spring to turn your hearts to worship.

John 11:25 & 26

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Hearing & Following

John 3:8

The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from

or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

God has been speaking to us this year about movement and about new things. As we look ahead to services resuming and consider what church looks like post pandemic it is vital that we listen to God. We are the church and God has something fresh for us. However how do we follow a new un-walked path without hearing the directing voice of our Heavenly Father? Or the inspiring, commissioning voice of Jesus? Or the comforting and equipping voice of Holy Spirit? The simple answer is we cant! Our value for the prophetic as a church family and for each individual is vital in this season. God is doing a new thing and He wants to reveal that to us. Let us expect to hear Him, make time to listen and then record, pray into, share, and declare the words God speaks. Let us allow the wind of the Spirit to blow and lead us wherever He is going.

I am excited by the road ahead, excited for the journey and utterly confident we will reach the destination if we are led by the Spirit and listen to the voice of our God. I am declaring fresh revelation for each of you, an increasing prophetic anointing and a gift of faith to receive and obey everything we hear.

Fresh Fire

Acts 2:1-4

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

As Jesus followers waited and prayed in the upper room they prepared themselves for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The baptism Jesus would give, the baptism of fire John the baptised had prophesied. The waited, they prayed and the prepared. Then like the sound of a violent wind what seemed like tongues of fire rested upon each and they were filled with The Holy Spirit. The word here for rested in the original language is kathizo, it is rich and pregnant with meaning, it means to rest, sit down, to confer a kingdom on one, to have ones fixed abode!

Will we wait on Holy Spirit and allow His fire to rest upon us, to confer the kingdom of God upon us, to make His abode within us? It is time for fresh fire. take some time this week to ask Holy Spirit to rest upon you again and afresh.

Have a blessed week of God encounters

Fresh Fire

Luke 3:16

John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

God is doing new things. Do we perceive them? Will we receive them? I believe God has fresh fire for each of us. Jesus baptises us in the Holy Spirit and with fire. Are you ready to receive something fresh from Him, something comforting, something challenging and consuming, something that could bring fresh vision and guidance? What we believe is the key to unlocking that which we receive. God is doing new things and Jesus Baptises us in fire. It is available! if we will believe the we can receive! Let us pray and invite Jesus to baptise us in fire.

Lord help us give up control and align our hearts to your Holy fire. Give us faith to believe, open our eyes to see and our ears to hear that we may receive the new things you have for us. Lord let us walk in your ways, give us vision and guidance to move beyond what we can see, who we can be and what we can accomplish in our own strength. Baptise us with the untameable, uncontrollable fire of the Holy Spirit that we might live a life burning with the love, compassion, and power of Jesus.

Amen

Amen

Have a blessed week of God encounters

Weekly Update 01/03/21

Hi All

Lots to share with you this week so let’s get straight into it.

Service plans March, April, and May

Following the governments announcement of the “roadmap to recovery” we have the following plans for in person and online services.

March

Weekly services for those not on the internet or feeling lonely or isolated will continue throughout March, with our online International Sunday streamed live on March 21st.

April

In April we will have weekly services online and an online service on Good Friday. In person services for those not on the internet will continue to be weekly throughout April. We will also have two larger in person services available, booking will be required. The first one on Easter Sunday (April 4th) and the second one on April 18th. These two services will again be limited to 35 people plus team in line with social distance guidance.

May

From May we will move to weekly in person services. Again these will need to be booked and we will follow the latest government guidance on numbers attending,  social distancing, and other restrictions.

Our hope is that sometime in the Summer the restrictions will be dropped and we can then gather again all together  with singing and celebration of all that God has done during this challenging season.

Generous God

I have been looking at John 3:16 with fresh eyes this week. This most famous of bible verses is inspiring me afresh. for God so loved that he gave! How much love does it take to give your son, your child, as ransom for the lives of many. How generous, how giving, how self sacrificing? God so loved that He gave! let us never become familiar with this outrageous love. Let us never feel unloved or unworthy. God loves you so much that He gave his only son.  Receive His love this week, share His love this week tell someone of God’s love for them, share the story of God’s outrageous generosity and love.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,

that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Weekly Update 22/02/21

Hi All

Hope is a wonderful thing, our nation was given some more hope yesterday as we heard the roadmap to recovery from the global pandemic. Whilst we welcome this news and look ahead to more social freedom, it strikes me as Christians our hope never needs to be reliant on the temporal or the transient. I have watched our church family move through this season with our hope firmly in Christ. I expect as we step into the coming seasons our hope will increase as we have seen the faithfulness of God through this challenging time. Hope is a beautiful thing and faith is the substance of things hoped for. Our eternal truth is that hope has a name and His name is Jesus. We are the people of hope because we are filled by Jesus the person of hope. Life’s journey has its mountains and its valleys, it’s storms and it’s sunshine, yet our hope is above every circumstance, our hope is constant, and stable, our hope is faithful, our hope is Jesus!

Lockdown Lifting

I watched the Prime Ministers announcement last night as I am sure many of you did. We are currently working with our teams as we plan our provision for gatherings over the coming months. More information will be given in next weeks update.

Live Prayer

This Thursday night we will be live on the CLC Facebook page for live prayer.  We will be taking your prayer requests, praying together, and sharing prophetic words as God leads us. Join us and come prepared to share in the comments and bless someone else.

Elders Announcement and Affirmation – Last chance to share your votes and affirmation

If you are a member of CLC and haven’t yet sent us your vote then this week is your last chance to do so. Details of the affirmation process are below:

After much prayer and hearing God the Elders believe God has been speaking to us about appointing an Elder from a younger generation. Having heard this, we believe Simon Consiglio is the right person to step into Eldership. We have felt for some time that Simon would be our next Elder and have received a prophetic word from a member of our CLC family confirming the importance of both Simon and his wife Kelly alongside us in leadership of the Church. We have approached Simon and he has taken time to pray and seek God. Having spent time praying, Simon also believes this is the right time for him to step into Eldership.

We would love you all to spend some time in prayer throughout the month of February. Our members will have received an email asking for a response during the affirmation process. As an Elim Church our process of appointing Elders is to seek the affirmation of our members. We therefore ask that all of our members contact us giving  affirmation of the Elders’ proposal or with any questions or concerns. For those who are not yet members we value you and we would love to hear from you as you pray and hear God during this month.

Hope has a name

My prayer for each of you this week is that Jesus will increase your hope levels and release a fresh gift of faith to each of us. May we be so hope filled that we overflow with hope into the lives of everyone we meet.

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Love and blessings

Weekly Update 15/02/21

Hi All

Great to be inspired by John at our service this week as he spoke to us about our preparation, our grounding, and us being unleashed on the world around us. God is preparing us for something new and calling each of us to take our place in the movement of God at CLC. You may be being stirred to pray, your heart may be turning to a community, a neighbourhood, a school or your workplace. You may be being called to prepare and disciple others and teach the truth of God’s word. The new thing God is doing is for each of us will be as varied, creative, and as unique, as each individual that God designed and made is unique. Listen out for the stirring of Holy Spirit as He releases new things in the family of God at CLC.

Preparing to move

Let us follow Jesus example and prepare our hearts to move out into all God is calling us to, in this year of new things.

John 1:14 The Message

The Word became flesh and blood,
    and moved into the neighbourhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
    the one-of-a-kind glory,
    like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
    true from start to finish.

Weekly Update 08/02/21

Hi All

I believe God is doing something significant with us as a church family in this season. Lockdown has been challenging but it has also slowed the pace of life for many and afforded us an opportunity to focus on God and lean into Him. I believe God is readying us to be a presence filled movement, a grace drenched community who pour out in mission everything they receive from God. This is not a call to do more but to be more. To receive more and from that connection with God to flow out into the lives of others. We are commissioned by Christ on the mission of God. We are sent by the sending God, accompanied by Jesus who promises to be with us always! Presence and mission, apostolic action and rest, are designed to flow together as we freely receive and freely give.

We are the Church

The reality of the church of Jesus Christ as a movement of  people connected by their relationship with Jesus, has been brought into sharp focus as the global pandemic has restricted access to our buildings. You are the church and I thank God for each one of you. We give thanks for the way you love and serve each other and the wider community.  Together we are being built up in love and relationship as we trust Holy Spirit to lead us. We are the church, a spiritual house made up of living stones, together a holy priesthood. Let us continue to offer spiritual sacrifices of love and service to each other and the world around us.

1 Peter 2:4-6

As you come to him, the living Stone — rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him —  you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
