Weekly Update 28/09/20

Hi all

After a great time online last Sunday we have another gathered service to look forward to this week. We are looking forward to seeing all of those who attend and to connecting with others online through the live stream. The bookings for November are now open so feel free to start putting your names down for those services.

Gathered Services

To book in for a service follow the link below.

Local Lockdown

As Merseyside is in local lockdown we are currently advising Reach groups to meet on Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Hangouts for the moment. Places of worship can continue to gather under the local lockdown rules with our COVID measures in place. Therefore our Sunday gathered services will continue as planned.

We are the Church

Its a phrase we have uttered for years and a word we have regularly preached but never has it been brought into sharper focus for the church in the United Kingdom. With restrictions on buildings, capacity, and how we gather and worship we have seen the church launched into an ever increasing online presence. We have watched with thankfulness as the family of CLC have stepped up and cared for one another. we have seen people come back to church and reignite their faith, we have seen not yet Christians engage and connect to church and new families joining us. In the middle of all of the pain and grief of a global pandemic Jesus is building His church. As much as it pains me that we cannot meet together as a complete gathered community, I am celebrating all that you are and everything you’re are doing as God builds us together as His spiritual house at St Helens CLC.

1 Peter 2: 4&5

As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house  to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Weekly Update 14/09/20

Hi everyone

We have been busy these last few weeks preparing the church building and organising your bookings as we ready ourselves for live in person services again. We are really looking forward to seeing you. Our online services continue to be a blessing to us and we so appreciate the talent and effort of all of those involved. This has been a challenging season but the Church of Jesus Christ continues to be built by him and the enemies plans will not prosper as Jesus calls his church to advance the Kingdom of God in the earth. We continue to see our reach and influence for the kingdom go beyond our walls as our online presence takes the good news of Jesus into new and fresh areas each week.

Church Sunday gatherings

New Government guidance:

From Monday this week the new government guidance around social gatherings comes into effect with no more than 6 people allowed to gather socially inside or outdoors. Thankfully places of worship are exempt from this and as long as we adopt the correct measures our services can still go ahead. Please only attend if you have booked a place as we will not be allowed to admit people who haven’t booked.

Gathered Services:

Yesterday we showed our church service walk through video to help you know what to expect when you have booked into a service. Watch it here for help with reserving your place and to see what measures we have put in place.

Our Service for 20th September is now fully booked. You can still book your places for October 4th & October 18th by following the link below:

Weekly Update 07/09/20

Hi all

What a great morning we had together as we streamed live from church using some of our new equipment. Thanks to Ste, Jay, and Gabbi for your hard work in setting things up. Thanks also to everyone who helped out and was involved in the service. We are so looking forward to welcoming more of you back into the building in the coming months. It is unusual to gather with masks and listen to the worship rather than singing together but as the team found yesterday there is still something special about seeing each other in person and gathering corporately to worship.

Streaming services how can you help?

We are now looking to recruit a team of volunteers to help with the technology and a team of online pastors to minister to those connecting. We see this as an expanding ministry with great potential to reach out beyond the walls of the church. If you feel this is something God is calling you to then please contact us.

you can also still give into the fund for streaming equipment If you would still like to. To give online please use the reference “stream” For physical offerings place them in an envelope marked “Stream”.

Church Sunday gatherings

Gathered Services:

As we announced yesterday We will offer three morning services during September and October all starting at 10:30am on Sept 20th, Oct 4th & Oct 18th. To hear the announcement again watch the Video below:

To book your space at one of these services please follow the link below:

A flexible approach in a changing landscape:

All of the options above are dependent on the COVID 19 situation and Government guidance. We are confident that with any changes in the virus situation we will be able to adapt between our three options for services (pre-recorded online only, gathered services, and live stream gathered services). As lockdown restrictions lift we will increase numbers allowed in gathered services; conversely should a local lockdown occur we have the ability to shift back to only online services.

Reach Gatherings

You are still able to book your Reach groups into church should you require a larger space to meet. You can also still sign up to join or start a Reach group online. Follow the link below.

All things for good

Romans 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Our God is the God of redemption. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ redemption is available for all of humanity. Salvation, forgiveness, freedom and abundant life can be ours. I believe in this time we are going through our God is doing a redeeming work. I am expectant in faith of what God will do in each of our lives as He moves us out of this dark season and brings His light. What are you expecting for your life, for your family, for our town and our Nation?

Let us pray in faith and receive all God has for us in this coming season.

Weekly Update 31/08/20

Hello everyone

Lots to share with you all this week with some important news for the coming months.

Church Sunday gatherings

Following the results of our survey and our Elders meeting on Monday this week, I would like to share with you our plans for Sunday Services in the coming season. After prayer and discussion the Elders and I believe it is wise to offer a staged return to services.

We will offer three morning services during September and October (Sept 20th, Oct 4th, Oct 18th) leading up to November. Our teams will then be ready to host weekly church services again and our new live stream equipment and streaming teams will be ready to stream services weekly. Therefore, our aim is that from Sunday 1st November we will have weekly Sunday gatherings which will also be streamed as our online service.

Online Services:

In September and October we will continue to offer an online service weekly. These online services will be a mix of recorded services and services streamed live from church.

Gathered Services:

We will be offering three gathered Sunday morning services at CLC on September 20th, October 4th, and October 18th. These gathered services will be limited to a maximum of 35 people in line with social distancing and will follow our risk assessment and the Government’s guidelines to ensure we offer the safest environment possible. We believe this approach will enable some learning and development as we offer some opportunities to gather. This approach will also afford us the opportunity to grow in our experience of managing COVID safe services and our ability to live stream services online. Further information of how to book into our services will follow in the coming weeks. Be assured we will ensure everyone who wants to attend services has an equal opportunity to do so.

I am so looking forward to beginning to gather together again. If you have any questions regarding the resumption of services and the continuing offer of church online then please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Reach Gatherings

You are still able to book your Reach groups into church should you require a larger space to meet. You can also still sign up to join or start a Reach group online. Follow the link below.

Non-Internet Gathering

This week we held our first church service for those not on the internet. This faithful group of people have been doing church through CDs with our updates and notes posted out to them each week. So, last Thursday we offered a service for those who wanted to attend. We had a great time together and will look to offer something again midweek to help those not online stay connected.

Live Streaming Gifts

A huge thank you for giving into this evangelistic opportunity as we purchase new equipment to stream the good news of Jesus online. So far we have received £770 in gifts for streaming. This is on top of your regular giving and our hardship fund. We are so blessed by your generosity and believe this is a new arena for the gospel as we continue online following the resumption of Church gatherings.

If you would still like to give there is time to do so. To give online please use the reference “stream” For physical offerings place them in an envelope marked “Stream”.

Online Team Recruitment

We are now looking to recruit a team of volunteers to help with the technology and a team of online pastors to minister to those connecting. If you feel this is something God is calling you to then please contact us.

Elim Prayer – Save the date

We received this message from our movement Elim this week regarding prayer in the coming season:

This is just a quick message with a ‘Save the Date’ from Elim Prayer.

As you are aware we’ve been raising the level of prayer across the Movement during lockdown. Thank you to everyone who has tuned in and engaged with prayer. Many of you have asked if we can continue to do online prayer.

As we head into the Autumn there’s a sense that things are shifting again and we need to respond with prayer and fasting. In consultation with Chris Cartwright and the National Leadership Team we are facilitating 3 days of prayer and fasting from Tuesday 15 to Thursday 17 September.

We will have more information to follow with a mixture of morning, daytime and evening prayer online we are calling the Movement to prayer and fasting.

Please save the dates

Fruitfulness in abiding

John 15: 4 & 5

Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

This week as I reflect on the season we are in and the journey we have been through I am reminded of Jesus words. As I consider the strange and challenging year it has been I am inspired afresh to the priority of our lives. We have all been through lockdown and as a church unable to meet physically. We have been restricted in the way we connect and minister to each other. We have also been busy in new ways developing technology and caring for each other through different expressions of love and communication. Normal life as we knew it was put on hold. In these times I am reminded that our fruitfulness is not dependant on our effort! Our fruitfulness does not flow from our busyness, our ability or even our spiritual gifting. Our fruitfulness is dependant on our remaining connected to the vine. Our abiding in Jesus is the beautiful relationship that will naturally allow us to bear much fruit.

Can I encourage you this week to take some time out with Jesus? Let each of us be intentional about remaining and abiding in the presence of Jesus. Let us drink in His love, bask in His grace and overflow with thankfulness as we abide in Him.

Love & Blessings

Craig

I thank my God every time I remember you “

This week has been such a blessing and this verse sums up perfectly our thoughts and feelings. Paul send this greeting to the Philippians and for us it is what we have been doing as we think of you all. We thank our God for a wonderful church family and we also speak blessing over you.

Weekly Update 17/08/20

Hello

We are away enjoying a break in Wales this week. Lovely to get some time with family and to still also be at online church with you all. Great to hear Dave share with us about abiding in the presence of God and spending time in the secret place with God. Dave shared a vital truth with us that the presence of God brings transformation “Intimacy leads to imitation” as we become like the one we worship.

Survey

Thank you to those who have took the time to complete our survey to help us as we prayerfully consider the next steps for church gatherings. If you are yet to complete the survey there still an opportunity to do so as it is open until August 22nd. Following the survey the Elders will prayerfully make plans for resuming gatherings. We will announce a range of options in the coming weeks.

Reach group gatherings

Thank you for the excellent response in trying to gather your reach groups online and in person as we aim to gather each of us together in a Reach group. We continue to see this as a priority for the life and mission of our church. Reach groups will be vital during these challenging times and will continue to form a vital part of our relationships, our discipleship, and our mission.

We believe God has moved us out beyond the walls of the church in this season. Our online church presence is here to stay and we will be offering a live stream of our services going forward beyond the COVID19 pandemic. We will be recruiting a team of people to help with the technology and a team of online pastors to minister to those connecting.

This is how we love

This Scripture from 1 John reminded me of you all as I read it this week.

1 John 3:16-18 NIV

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

I have been blown away by the CLC family response to the unprecedented situation we have faced and are still facing this year. Your love has been practically demonstrated, your generosity has been evident. Let this scripture be a celebration of how our Church family has responded. Let this scripture also be a challenge for us to go further in laying down our lives to practically demonstrate our love to each other and to the world around us.

Love & Blessings

Weekly Update 10/08/20

Hi All

Great to catch up with you at church online and remind ourselves of the magnificence and intimacy of God’s presence. He is always with us moving and acting on our behalf.

Our Elders continue to pray and plan for the coming season as we look to how we can best serve our church family and reach out to the wider community . Please keep us in your prayers as we lean into God for His wisdom and creativity.

Survey

We have asked you to complete a survey to help us as we prayerfully consider the next steps for church gatherings. The survey will be open until 22nd August after which the elders will prayerfully make a decision on the way forward.

To complete the survey please follow the link below:

Frequent questions and comments from the survey so far

There have been some common questions in our survey responses so far. Here are our responses to help bring clarity as we move forward together:

Q. Would it be possible to sing if we wear a mask?

A. Current government guidance does not allow congregational singing even with masks. We can listen to worship leaders as long as they are behind a screen but cannot sing together with them currently.

Q. Will there still be youth and children’s provision?

A. Children and youth will be of course welcome at all of our gatherings. We will continue to consider how and when we are able to offer separate children’s and youth provision in line with government guidance.

Q. Will attendance to gatherings be first come first served? Will we give priority to those who are shielding and live alone?

A. We are currently arranging a gathering for people who have been unable to connect online. We will also ensure that all gatherings are accessible to those who would like to attend. They will not be first come first served but will be shared between those who are happy to gather.

Q. Can we do multiple services to get more people through?

A. At this point multiple services are not being considered due to the numbers of volunteers we would require to manage worship, welcome, track and trace, PPE, social distancing and then deep cleaning between each service. However as confidence grows and government guidance changes multiple services may be considered.

Q. Can we meet outside instead?

A. Currently government guidance only allows 30 people to gather outside and the same singing restrictions would be in place. So we are currently able to gather more people in church than outside. We will of course monitor government guidance for any changes in these restrictions.

Q. I am concerned with so many people using the building during the week. Have cleaning, PPE, and track and trace measures been in place?

A. Yes, as a provider of essential services we have had to produce a risk assessment and COVID19 procedure for all of our midweek activities. Cleaning, track and trace, PPE, hand washing and social distances measures have all been in place. Access to the building has been limited to collection and dropping off of food and donations. The kitchen and toilets have remained closed to the public. Our cleaning regime has also changed to accommodate the service we offer and stay COVID19 compliant.

Reach group gatherings

We continue to see new Reach groups starting and people joining existing groups. Thank you for the excellent response as we aim to gather each of us together in a Reach group.

To inquire about starting or joining a reach group or to book your in church Reach group gathering follow the link Below:

Send us your videos

We would love to see & hear from you as you begin to gather in your Reach groups. Please send us some photos or even consider recording a short video greeting and a word on what God is saying to your group.

Live Streaming

Thank you to those who have already given towards the streaming equipment. We believe God has accelerated the gospel going out beyond the walls of the church in this season. Online church is here to stay and we will be offering a live stream of our services going forward beyond the COVID19 pandemic. We will be recruiting a team of people to help with the technology and a team of online pastors to minister to those connecting. If you would still like to give there is time to do so. Gospel power and Gospel works

I believe the season we are living in is a season of opportunity. The Gospel is powerful and you as ministers of the gospel carry the power of God. I believe in this season we need to not only use words to demonstrate our faith but offer people encounters with the supernatural power of God. Paul reminds us of the power of the gospel in his letter to the Corinthians

1 Cor 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.

James also implores us to demonstrate our faith with deeds or good works.

James 2:17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action is dead.

We have an opportunity to serve the community around us in power and with good works. As the Church of Jesus Christ let us step out in this time in power and in service. Let us demonstrate the good news of the gospel in powerful and practical ways as we love Jesus and love people.

Love & Blessings

Having developed our online service to serve our church family we have seen God moving the church beyond our walls. We believe God is preparing us for the next season. We have heard reports of people joining us who are unable to come to church due to health issues. We have also seen many friends and family members who are not yet Christians connecting to our online content.

With this in mind the Elders have decided to invest in some live streaming equipment. This will allow us to maintain the quality of our online services by broadcasting our morning services live online after we have returned to church gatherings. We believe this will serve those who are unable to attend services such as some of our elderly members and those with health conditions. We also see this as an amazing evangelistic opportunity where people can give church a try online before they have to come to the building or even connect remotely form other parts of the UK and the world.

The cost of the equipment to stream well will be £3000 and we would like to give you the opportunity to give into this as we look to reach out further online. Online banking issues

There have been a number of people who have had problems setting up bank standing orders or trying to do a bank transfer to the church bank account.

We are aware that banks are being more stringent in matching bank payments with the actual account name. So if you want to set up a standing order, or use online banking for your church offerings, we suggest using “EFGA Re St Helens” instead of Christian Life Centre as the name of the church account.

The account number and sort code are unchanged.

We are looking forward to gradually seeing more of you and to meeting you. You are all in our prayers.

Pray for wisdom

Please continue to pray for our Elders at this time. Pray for Godly wisdom and prophetic insight as we look to navigate the current climate following God’s leading and with the safety and benefit of our church family at the forefront of our thinking and planning.

Weekly Update 27/07/20

Hello everyone,

Lots to share this week so we’ll get straight into it.

Small group gatherings

We are pleased to see many of you gathering in small groups and connecting together. I have enjoyed beginning to see some of you and look forward to catching up with more of you now we can meet in gardens, parks, and in church. The church building is now ready and COVID19 precautions are in place if any of your groups would like to meet inside church while we are unable to meet in homes. However during this phase our primary aim is just that we meet together in our groups, be that in church or anywhere else in line with government guidance.

It is our aim to help everyone connect to a reach group and we continue to see new groups starting and new people joining at this time. Reach leaders please use the online booking system to book a small group in church then one of the Pastors will contact you and arrange to meet with you and to manage the building and COVID measures we have in place.

Contact us to join a Reach group, start a Reach group or to book an in church gathering.

Providing Government guidelines allow then from September we will look to cluster Reach groups into larger gatherings and consider Sunday gatherings in the building along with our online service.

If you have any questions, concerns or thoughts around our next steps for small groups or Sunday gatherings then please contact us. We would love to hear from you.

Live Prayer

Tash and I will continue to be available for live Prayer from 7pm – 7:30pm this Thursday on both the CLC Facebook page and the CLC Youtube channel. We have heard some great testimonies from our live prayer. So whether you need prayer for you or your family or whether you are able to join us and pray for others, it will be great to have you online as we minister together.

We are looking forward to gradually seeing more of you and to meeting you virtually online. You are all in our prayers.
