Hello everyone,

This week our focus is unity. What a blessed position we are in as churches in St Helens work together. The unity in our churches has enabled us to produce a week long programme of online content, prayer, and a combined online service. United 2020 promises to be a great celebration of the relationships of our churches and of the Ministers in our town. Along with the online content we have delivered 800 books to those who are not online! This unity is special a gift from God and we don’t take our friendships and unity across churches lightly. I am so looking forward to celebrating with and being inspired by all the churches together. I am also expectant for the future, as God promises in his word that “where there is unity He commands a blessing.” Father let your blessings abundantly flow in St Helens.

Church in the Square presents United

Churches in St Helens join together in unity leading up to Pentecost for a free week long programme of online content to engage, inspire, and transform! 25-31 May 2020. Closing on Sunday May 31^st with our Joint online service. See the progamme below for details of the schedule. For those on the internet watch on facebook or the Church in the square website. June 1^st Zoom Worship evening With Si & Kelly

Join us from 7:45pm on Monday June 1^st we will start live worship at 8pm. A chance to worship together, hear God and encounter His presence in your own home. We would love as many as possible to join us and worship together. Please contact us via email, whattsapp, or text to confirm your attendance and receive the passwords.  Once we have the numbers we can broadcast appropriately to accommodate everyone.

The cost of unity

Ephesians 4 :1-6 

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism;  one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

This week as we celebrate the unity in our Town it has caused me to consider the cost of unity. Here in Ephesians Paul reminds us to live humble and gentle lives, bearing with one another in love. In Romans Paul implores us to prefer one another. The cost of unity is to bear with one another, to prefer the needs of someone else. The picture here in the original language of Ephesians 4 is not the “bear with one another” of our modern language it is not about putting up with someone when they annoy you! A better picture would be offering a shoulder to a wounded friend and walking with them, arms over shoulders to take their weight. Therefore bearing them up in their moment of need. Let us celebrate the great unity we have in our town and in our church and let us continue to pay the price for unity by carrying each other in our moments of need.
