Weekly Update 30.11.20

Hi all

I hope you are enjoying advent, as we look ahead to Christmas with all the Joy and peace that brings for us as followers of Jesus. Advent is a hope filled season, a season of looking ahead. Yes to the coming of Christmas and also on to the second coming of Christ, our soon coming King. Let this advent be a season where we reflect on our hope in Jesus.

Don’t forget to watch our advent videos across all of our social media platforms as we fill advent with 1 minute good news stories.

Live Prayer

It has been such a blessing for Tash & I to lead live online prayer and see what Holy Spirit has done and said to people as we have shared these times together. We will be back on the CLC facebook page on Thursday evening, come and join us. Come fully expecting God to do something in and through you.

Christmas Advert & Services

We are so looking forward to our Christmas services. For the first time this year our Christmas services will see us all gathered together online. We are expectant for what God can do in this season and believe our Christmas programme will reach more people than ever this year.

In Person Gatherings back in January

Our next in person gathered service will be January 3rd and gathered services will then be weekly on a Sunday morning throughout January. Keep your eyes on our website at the connect page as bookings for January services will open soon!

Thank you

We now have well over half of our advent good news videos. A huge thank you to those who have sent them in. There are still a few spaces to go so check out the detail below to discover how to get involved!

Good news – Advent Calendar

This Christmas we want to share good news stories throughout December on our social media platforms. Our idea is 24 days of good news to encourage believers and witness to those who are not yet Christian – 24 days of good news gifts. We will release these in the form of an online advent calendar with a new video to open every day from the 1st to the 24th of December. We will then add the link to our online Christmas Day service.

We need your help

Could you record a video on your phone sharing a short testimony of how the goodness of God has impacted your life. The more simple and concise they are the easier they will be for people to access.

How to get involved

Simply record your story in no more than 1 minute (as this is the limit on some social media platforms) on your phone (in landscape) and send them to us via WhatsApp 07742 638809 or email office@sthelensclc.com! Send your videos as soon as possible, the final deadline for all videos is no later than November 30th.

Looking forward to hearing your stories and blessing our communities with good news.

Keep sharing the good news

Thank you all for sharing our posts and helping people see the good news of Jesus. Our advent series starts this week so why not share these 1 minute good news messages with your friends!

If  your on Social media it is easy, follow us on twitter, facebook, and instagram and become an online evangelist. Social media analytics mean our posts are largely seen by those who already like and follow our pages. This is where we can work together to share the good news. Liking our content is a great start, but sharing it transforms the reach of our message. If you share our posts they are seen by your friends and followers. If we all share our posts then the good news is preached to a much wider audience.

Simply hit “share” on our posts and engage with your friends as they comment!

Love came down

As we reflect on the season of Advent and the good news that Jesus brings, let us focus on the love it took for God to be with us. Immanuel – God with us, it is a beautiful name that we often reflect upon this time of year. Consider the descent as love came down! Jesus leaves His heavenly home to dwell with us, fully God and fully man. His life is lived perfectly in the mess of humanity. He demonstrates a sinless life, lives with beauty, grace, and love. Jesus shows kindness and compassion to all and ultimately dies a death on a cross to bring redemption for each of us. This advent let us reflect on the mind blowing act of love, let us consider the life changing mercy and Grace brought about when love came down!

Matthew 1:23
“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
John 3:16 NIV

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Love & Blessings

Craig
