Lots to share with you all this week with some important news for the coming months.
Church Sunday gatherings
Following the results of our survey and our Elders meeting on Monday this week, I would like to share with you our plans for Sunday Services in the coming season. After prayer and discussion the Elders and I believe it is wise to offer a staged return to services.
We will offer three morning services during September and October (Sept 20th, Oct 4th, Oct 18th) leading up to November. Our teams will then be ready to host weekly church services again and our new live stream equipment and streaming teams will be ready to stream services weekly. Therefore, our aim is that from Sunday 1st November we will have weekly Sunday gatherings which will also be streamed as our online service.
In September and October we will continue to offer an online service weekly. These online services will be a mix of recorded services and services streamed live from church.
We will be offering three gathered Sunday morning services at CLC on September 20th, October 4th, and October 18th. These gathered services will be limited to a maximum of 35 people in line with social distancing and will follow our risk assessment and the Government’s guidelines to ensure we offer the safest environment possible. We believe this approach will enable some learning and development as we offer some opportunities to gather. This approach will also afford us the opportunity to grow in our experience of managing COVID safe services and our ability to live stream services online. Further information of how to book into our services will follow in the coming weeks. Be assured we will ensure everyone who wants to attend services has an equal opportunity to do so.
A flexible approach in a changing landscape:
All of the options above are dependent on the COVID 19 situation and Government guidance. We are confident that with any changes in the virus situation we will be able to adapt between our three options for services (pre-recorded online only, gathered services, and live stream gathered services). As lockdown restrictions lift we will increase numbers allowed in gathered services; conversely should a local lockdown occur we have the ability to shift back to only online services.
I am so looking forward to beginning to gather together again. If you have any questions regarding the resumption of services and the continuing offer of church online then please don’t hesitate to contact me.
You are still able to book your Reach groups into church should you require a larger space to meet. You can also still sign up to join or start a Reach group online. Follow the link below.
This week we held our first church service for those not on the internet. This faithful group of people have been doing church through CDs with our updates and notes posted out to them each week. So, last Thursday we offered a service for those who wanted to attend. We had a great time together and will look to offer something again midweek to help those not online stay connected.
Live Streaming Gifts
A huge thank you for giving into this evangelistic opportunity as we purchase new equipment to stream the good news of Jesus online. So far we have received £770 in gifts for streaming. This is on top of your regular giving and our hardship fund. We are so blessed by your generosity and believe this is a new arena for the gospel as we continue online following the resumption of Church gatherings.
If you would still like to give there is time to do so. To give online please use the reference “stream” For physical offerings place them in an envelope marked “Stream”.
Online Team Recruitment
We are now looking to recruit a team of volunteers to help with the technology and a team of online pastors to minister to those connecting. If you feel this is something God is calling you to then please contact us.
Elim Prayer – Save the date
We received this message from our movement Elim this week regarding prayer in the coming season:
This is just a quick message with a ‘Save the Date’ from Elim Prayer.
As you are aware we’ve been raising the level of prayer across the Movement during lockdown. Thank you to everyone who has tuned in and engaged with prayer. Many of you have asked if we can continue to do online prayer.
As we head into the Autumn there’s a sense that things are shifting again and we need to respond with prayer and fasting. In consultation with Chris Cartwright and the National Leadership Team we are facilitating 3 days of prayer and fasting from Tuesday 15 to Thursday 17 September.
We will have more information to follow with a mixture of morning, daytime and evening prayer online we are calling the Movement to prayer and fasting.
Please save the dates
Fruitfulness in abiding
John 15: 4 & 5
Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
This week as I reflect on the season we are in and the journey we have been through I am reminded of Jesus words. As I consider the strange and challenging year it has been I am inspired afresh to the priority of our lives. We have all been through lockdown and as a church unable to meet physically. We have been restricted in the way we connect and minister to each other. We have also been busy in new ways developing technology and caring for each other through different expressions of love and communication. Normal life as we knew it was put on hold. In these times I am reminded that our fruitfulness is not dependant on our effort! Our fruitfulness does not flow from our busyness, our ability or even our spiritual gifting. Our fruitfulness is dependant on our remaining connected to the vine. Our abiding in Jesus is the beautiful relationship that will naturally allow us to bear much fruit.
Can I encourage you this week to take some time out with Jesus? Let each of us be intentional about remaining and abiding in the presence of Jesus. Let us drink in His love, bask in His grace and overflow with thankfulness as we abide in Him.
Love & Blessings
